We regret to announce that news has been received that Private H.O. Mainland has been killed in action in France. Prior to his enlistment Private Mainland was pearling at Shark Bay, where he and his father had resided for many years. He was the only son of Mr. Henry Mainland, for whom the deepest sympathy is felt in his heavy bereavement.

TAIT.-- On November 13th, 1915, at the Brisbane General Hospital, Private Christopher Tait, Australian Imperial Forces, Enoggera (formerly of Netherby, via Tiaro), aged 24 years and 10 months.

The funeral of the late Private Christopher Tait took place yesterday morning from Mr. J. Ammenhauser's funeral parlour, and was fairly well attended. The military (forces were represented by Corporal R. Latchford (of the 1st Field Coy., Australian Engineers), Sergt.-Majors Young, W.Murray, and A. Emery, Mr F E. Smith was present as a representative of St. Andrew's Society, of which body the deceased was a member, whilst Messrs. J. N. McMullan and J. T. Lawrence represented the Tiaro Rifle Club, in whose ranks Private Tait figured prominently.
Both bodies also sent immortelle wreaths. The pall-bearers were Corporal Latchford, Sergt.-Major Young, Messrs. M. J. Jamieson and M. Johnstone. The Rev. G. S. Beagrie held a brief service in Mr. Ammenhauser's funeral parlour, and also read the burial service at the graveside. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. J. Ammenhauser.
